Description Unknown 2003-08-15 23:27:17 UTC
I have a old word file that opens properly in Word 2000 but not in Writer. It is
possible Writer is not detecting the proper charecter set. The file is probably
word 2.0 format. You might want to add this file to you testing suite. I am
using Win2k SP4. I can't figure out how to upload the file.

Hi!

You say that you think the referenced document is a Word 2.0 file.
Can you confirm this specifically? If it is another format, please
advise.

When attempting to open the file, the "ASCII Filter Options" dialog
box opens. You mention that OOo may not be recognizing the
appropriate character set. What is the appropriate character set?

Thanks,

Tam
Confirmed WinXPPro/1.1rc3

It is indeed a Word for Windows 2.0 file. MS Word 2000 SR-1 has no
problem opening the file. I am not sure what character set it uses. I
think it is ASCII compatible, because I can see the text (it the
middle of all the binary headers/footers) of the file when I cat the
file to a terminal.

MS Word 2.x format are not supported by OpenOffice. There only exist
filter for Winword 6 or newer.
