Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 73349
RTF: crash re- importing docmen having hard formats ans many tabs
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:42:49 UTC
Document specific issue; Open template with Open office. Save as Rich Text format (rtf). Open rtf; Open office attempts to import document and crashes. Similar documents on multiple machines with same version of Open Office experience identical symptoms.
Created attachment 42079 [details] Odt document, from template, saved as rtf. Causes OOo 2.1 to crash
Created attachment 42080 [details] Text Template of documents which OOo 2.1 cant import as rtf.
The template is used to produce consistent documents, which then are required to be saved into several different formats for distribution. When saved as an rtf, importing back into Open Office 2.1 causes it to crash (which then causes a loop as open office recovers, then attempts to import document, crashes, recovers etc). The problem seems to be isolated to documents similar to those produced from the attached template.
MRU->HBRINKM: export attached ott to RTF and re-import -> crash. The document contains pure text, many hard formats and a lot of tab characters.
The issue can be replicated in OO v2.1 running on Win XP SP1 and OO v2.0.2 running on Fedora 5 kernel 2.6.17. To eliminate possibility of text, I deleted all text from the template and saved a new template. Created a document from this new template and saved as a rtf file. Upon opening the file, OO writer crashed. Another template was created from a new document without the text, but contained the same page settings such as border, paper type and page dimensions. An rtf was created and OO did not crash. Issue might be due to the tab stops, but unsure how to replicate the tab stops implemented.
Issue replicated in OOo 2.3
target 3.0
Cannot reproduce in DEV300 m12 on Ubuntu Linux.
@mru: Please check if problem persists in current milestones.
Does not crash anymore even in OO 2.4. Closing as "fixed".
CLOSED.
